Meet our family!

Robert Commerce
President

Bob Commerce moved from northern Virginia in 1970 to Lancaster County. Two years later, he began managing Indoor City until he became president and decided to purchase the company in 1978. After Bob ran the company on his own for 28 years, Ryan, Bob’s son, joined and began taking over general operations. In earlier years and prior to owning Indoor City, Bob attended Shenandoah and George Mason Universities, studying business. Working for a remodeling business after college, Bob gained great knowledge of renovation, remodeling, design, flooring, and a variety of other experiences. Still highly involved in Indoor City and the relationships he has formed there, Bob is regarded not only as knowledgeable, but dedicated to meet a customer’s needs and desires in a very personal and professional way.

Ryan Commerce
Vice President

Graduating from Virginia Tech with a Business Marketing degree, Ryan first worked for a large commercial printer, Wallace Inc. While there, he was in sales and management. A short time later, Ryan came to work at Indoor City with his dad. “I always had a great relationship with my dad and thought it would be fulfilling to work and learn with him,” Ryan said. For the past nine years that he has worked with his father at Indoor City, Ryan has enjoyed helping customers personalize their homes. It is important to him that he is able to coordinate the process in order to make everything as easy as possible on those who come into the showroom and decide they want to make changes. Because of this desire, Ryan has great aspirations for Indoor City. With a reputation of providing great installations of the best products on the market, Ryan wants Indoor City of Lancaster to be a leader in design and style for tile, flooring, windows, counters, and other aspects of the home.

Jo Ann Barton
Interior Design, Allied ASID

Jo Ann first attended the Dakota County Area Vocational Technical Institute and achieved her Associate degree in Hardware and Home-Center Management in 1981, later earning her Certificate of Interior Design from the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design in 2001. Jo Ann has been working with the Indoor City family for nine years, previously working as a sales associate for J.C. Snavely selling primarily building products. “I love working at Indoor City because every day is a new challenge. I strive to satisfy customers by showing a product or designing a space that accommodates them.” With 27 years of experience, Jo Ann believes her strengths lie in perception of color and understanding how to put textiles and finishes together in order to give her clients what they envision.

Barbara Commerce
Sales Representative

Graduating from Shippensburg University with a degree in Elementary Education, Barb first taught in the Manheim Central School District for five years. She then moved to Nebraska to teach, later returning to Lancaster County in 1982 when she had children and chose to stop teaching. Wanting to build a house during this time, she came to Indoor City for the first time to look at flooring options. Almost six years later, Barb joined the Indoor City family part-time in 1988. On May 27th, 2006 Barb married her boss, Bob Commerce and has become a great part of our family.

Kelli Martin
Interior Design, Allied ASID

Kelli graduated from Bradley Academy of the Visual Arts in 2003. She has been a part of our family for the past five years working as an Interior Designer who helps clients to personalize their homes. “Getting to know each of my clients helps in the process of defining his or her personal style,” Kelli said. “They always have a style; it’s just a matter of bringing it out.” Whether it is one of the builders, remodelers, or a walk-in client that she works closely with, Kelli strives to find the right combination of color and style at a price-point to meet the customer’s personal budget.

Carol Kelly
Design Consultant

Carol attended Mansfield University and studied Textile Arts and Color Design, therefore bringing personal skill and knowledge to the Indoor City family. Previously owning her own fabric and trim store, Carol uses her 15-years of experience as a home fashions seamstress. Also working as a personal decorating consultant, Carol has been a very lively part of the Indoor City family since March 2007. “I would say that my greatest strengths lie in color perception and envisioning what a room or area could look like for my customers.”

Cheryl Thompson
Design Consultant

Beginning to work as a design consultant for Indoor City in 2007, Cheryl has been an asset to our family. Previously, she has owned her own commercial flooring business, as well as been a showroom manager of a ceramic tile wholesale company. Cheryl also worked as a sales representative for a floor covering distributor and manufacturer with Armstrong. She shows great attention to detail, as well as organization in her work. With an expertise especially in ceramic and color perception, Cheryl has a keen sense of potentiality for a customer’s room or space. “The greatest compliment from a customer is when they say, ‘wow, that was easy!’ Making selections can be overwhelming for many customers,” Cheryl said, “But I listen to what they feel they want and select the products and designs that fit that.”

Jeanne Aument

Beginning her second year at Indoor City, Jeanne joined our family with a degree in Design and Merchandizing from Drexel University. She then worked as the Director of Design and Merchandizing for Capelli New York, facilitating and organizing design work with her own team.
