Marble Tiles:
Marble tile is unparalleled for classic beauty. It has been used for over hundreds of years for
building and design. Most homeowners select marble floors to increase the value of their home
and reflect a refined taste. It has been famous for dramatically changing a bland space into a
luxurious one and bringing years of elegance and beauty to a home. Compared to granite,
marbles usually have softer flowing veins in many shades and colors. It is important to keep in
mind that this natural stone is best suited where it will not be subjected to frequent hard use and
abuse. Many finishes are available such as honed with a matte-like finish, tumbled into a rougher,
rounded look, or polished to be very reflective and shiny.

spend a fortune, slate is the flooring tile choice of many.

Limestone Tiles:
Limestone can add sophistication and warmth to any modern or contemporary home. It’s soft
muted tones work well with a myriad of textures. It is harder and denser than marble hence
slightly more stain resistant. Because of the way limestone was formed many years ago, it is not
uncommon for small imperfections and fossils to be prevalent in the stone. Most limestone tiles
are honed but there are some available with a polished surface.

Travertine Tiles:
Travertine contains a mixture of minerals from the environment where it formed, along with
the calcium carbonate, and it has a very coarse texture with lots of holes created by air bubbles
and living organisms which were trapped in the rock. There are generally two types of tiles
made of travertine, filled and unfilled. Filled tiles have been filed down and filled with resin so
that the holes in the rock are smoothed over, creating an even surface, while unfilled tiles have
holes which are left open. Travertine can have a glossy, shiny, or matte surface, depending on
how it was processed; honed travertine tile tends to have a matte look, while brushed or tumbled tile
has a rougher, more natural appearance.
Some travertine tile is also available in a crosscut style which is cut against the grain, rather
than with the grain as travertine tile is traditionally processed, creating a very distinctive linear
appearance.
